Microsoft News Center publishes feature story on Cyberbullying

The Microsoft News Center has published a feature story on standing up to cyberbullying, titled “Helping Keep Children Safe Online.

The story features information on cyberbullying and its consequences, peer mentoring online, engaging educators with Generation Safe, Microsoft’s stand against cyberbullying, teaching cyberbullying to adults and bridging the digital generation gap.

It highlights organizations that are arming today’s youth and educators with the tools and resources they need to help create a safer digital environment, and shares a parent’s perspective on cyberbullying.

The article references helpful programs that tackle the issue of cyberbullying, such as Cybermentors, a U.K. based project that trains young people to mentor peers who are victims of bullying.

Generation Safe is also featured in the story as a tool that provides parents and educators with the training, resources and expert advice they need to resolve digital safety issues.

A quote from Marsali Hancock, President and CEO of iKeepSafe, speaks to the overall message of the story: “It’s not enough to say ‘stand up and do something. You have to say, ‘stand up, do something, and here are some options.’”
